VOX Mental Health was honoured to participate in the 2025 Barrie Flora’s Walk, contributing to a community-driven effort that raised over $1,500 for perinatal mental health supports. This annual event is part of Canada’s largest perinatal mental health fundraising initiative, taking place in more than 50 cities nationwide.
Held in May during World Maternal Mental Health Month, Flora’s Walk brings together families, healthcare providers, and community members to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and advocate for improved access to perinatal mental health care across Canada.
Perinatal mental health refers to mental health during pregnancy and the postpartum period. This stage of life can bring significant emotional, physical, and psychological changes, and many individuals experience challenges such as anxiety, depression, overwhelm, or intrusive thoughts.
Despite how common these experiences are, many parents struggle in silence due to stigma or lack of access to timely supports. Events like Flora’s Walk help bring these conversations into the public sphere, encouraging awareness, compassion, and early support.
The funds raised through Barrie Flora’s Walk directly support perinatal mental health programs and services, helping individuals and families access care when they need it most. Contributions also support advocacy and education efforts aimed at improving mental health outcomes for new and expecting parents.
VOX Mental Health is proud to have contributed to this initiative and to have helped raise over $1,500 in support of these essential services.
At VOX Mental Health, we recognize that perinatal mental health has a profound impact on parents, infants, and families as a whole. Early support and accessible care can significantly improve outcomes and reduce the long-term effects of untreated mental health challenges during this period.
Community initiatives like Flora’s Walk play a vital role in reducing stigma, increasing awareness, and ensuring that parents feel seen, supported, and understood.
By participating in Barrie Flora’s Walk, VOX Mental Health continues its commitment to supporting families and strengthening community-based mental health care. We believe that raising awareness is a critical step toward building systems of care that are compassionate, accessible, and responsive to real-world needs.
We are grateful to the organizers, participants, and community members who came together to support this important cause. Together, we can continue to advocate for improved perinatal mental health care and ensure that no parent navigates this journey alone.
