Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist
BSW, MSW, RSW
Theresa Miceli is a Registered Social Worker with experience in the fields of substance use and addiction, eating disorders and body image, and gender-based violence. Theresa obtained her Bachelor of Social Work from Carleton University in 2019, and her Master of Social Work with a specialization in Social Justice and Diversity from University of Toronto in 2020.
Theresa practices counselling through a strength-based and trauma-informed lens. She believes her clients already have the capacity and skills to work through their challenges and that often, all we need is someone to guide us through that process. Theresa’s approach allows the client the opportunity to be the expert of their own experience and be in control of their counselling process. Theresa views everyone’s presenting challenges through the scope of their environment, development, and life experiences as opposed to an individual fault or flaw. Theresa utilizes her compassionate and empathetic personality, as well as humour to create a safe and helpful environment for change.
Theresa integrates interventions and skills from a variety of modalities such as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness. Her approach is individualized and customized to meet the unique needs of each client she works with.
